What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® straightens teeth using a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners made with 3D computer imaging technology and it is custom-made specifically for your teeth. As you replace each aligner every two weeks, your teeth will move week by week, gradually moving towards the projected final position.
Comfortable, clear and removable, Invisalign® transforms your smile without disrupting your life.
How does Invisalign® Treatment Work?
At Corne Smith Dentistry, your Invisalign® clear aligners are custom-made for you. The aligners are virtually invisible and fit perfectly over your teeth.
Each aligner shifts your teeth slightly, moving them horizontally and vertically and even rotating them when needed. Your aligners are engineered to use the right amount of force in the right place at the right time.
When you change to the next set of aligners, usually every two week, your teeth gradually move into position, following a custom treatment plan mapped out by your dentist.
Only Invisalign® clear aligners are made of proprietary, multilayer SmartTrack® material to gently shift your teeth into place.
The Invisalign® Treatment Process:
Step 1 – The Consultation
At your initial consultation with Corne Smith Dentistry, your dentist will discuss your needs and evaluate whether Invisalign® treatment is right for you.
Step 2 - Your Custom Treatment Plan
Your dentist will either take physical impressions of your teeth or use a digital scanning system to create fast, precise 3D digital images of your teeth.
Dr. Corne Smith will then map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth and how long your treatment will be. You’ll even get to see how your teeth will move and preview your new smile.
Step 3 - Your Invisalign® Clear Aligners
Your custom-made aligners will be made of the proprietary SmartTrack® material. They’re virtually invisible, so most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them.
Wear your Invisalign® clear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results, taking them out to eat, brush and floss.
Step 4 - Your Progress
As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into place. Corne Smith Dentistry may recommend that you begin wearing a new set of aligners every week or two. You will visit us about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9 to 15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.
At every stage you’ll be able to see your progress and imagine how far your new smile will take you.

Making the decision to straighten your teeth is much easier when you know that Invisalign® treatment lets you live your life the way you want to. With Invisalign® aligners, you don't need to worry about the gum and mouth irritation other teeth-straightening methods can cause.
Invisalign® aligner trays are not only smooth and comfortable to wear, but they're also removable. According to Dr. Corne Smith, this allows you to live your life and continue doing all the things you normally would, from brushing and flossing, to eating whatever you like.
How about those special occasions, no more being shy to smile for the camera! Just take your aligners out for that time and pop them back in when you're ready. Of course, even when you're wearing them, most people won't even know you're going through treatment, because they are virtually invisible!
Health Benefits of Straight Teeth
You may be surprised to know that the benefits of having straight teeth extend far beyond a confident smile. According to the American Dental Association, straightening your teeth can actually significantly affect your overall dental health.
Healthier Teeth and Gums
Swollen, red gums can often be the result of having teeth that are crowded or too widely spaced. Unfortunately, these are also signs of periodontal disease. When teeth are properly aligned, it helps the gums fit more securely around the teeth, allowing for the strongest and healthiest defense against potential periodontal problems.
Overall Health
Think of your teeth as a window to the health of your body. Your teeth and gums and how they look to others when you smile, say a lot about your overall health.
Tooth decay and gum disease are caused by bacteria. Left untreated, they can cause mouth sores, tender or bleeding gums, bad breath, and possible tooth loss. Studies by the American Dental Association have shown that oral infections can also lead to other more serious ailments such as heart disease, stroke, pneumonia and diabetes.
Invisalign Teen®:
So, as a teen, your child already has so many other things they need to worry about and we here at Corne Smith Dentistry thinks that having to wear braces should not be one of them.
Having straight teeth will improve your child’s self-esteem and can improve their overall health benefits.
Wearing Invisalign Teen® aligners as a teen means, you don’t have to shy away for the school dance, their first date or game day. They fit in with any of your extracurricular activities.
Invisalign Teen® aligners are clear, removable, and comfortable due its perfect custom fit.
You've probably heard from friends that with braces you won't be able to eat anything, Dr. Corne Smith says, that with Invisalign Teen® aligners, you can eat whatever you want!
Unlike traditional metal braces, your Invisalign Teen® aligners are removable, which means you can go ahead and eat all the things you love without worrying about breaking a bracket or losing a rubber band.
